Derek has been a teacher of French and English for seventeen years. He holds a BA International, having spent a year studying in Université de Toulouse Le Marail. He also holds a MA in English. He taught evening and weekend classes and intensive revision courses at Christmas and Easter in The Galway Study Centre – Mill Street for ten years. He works for the SEC as an Examiner for the French Leaving Cert oral exams and an Advising Examiner for the French Leaving Cert written exams. He also worked as a Subject Specialist Advisor with Mentor Books on a French school textbook publication.
